OUR GARDENS

Wildlife Garden - Meersbrook

The sort of garden we love to do! The client gave us full control of the design as long as we made it wildlife friendly and it had space for a pond, somewhere to sit and space for growing vegetables.

I think we achieved it!

We painted the new fences black in order to blur the boundaries and make the garden seem bigger, planted native trees that would appeal more to the local bird population, sowed a wildflower meadow for colour  and nectar for this season and will be laying down wildflower meadow turf for future years this October. The stone for the pond and dry stone wall was sourced from a local quarry in Thurlstone.

"Chris and the team transformed my boring deck and lawn blank canvas into a space which has everything I wanted and is a space full of wildlife and somewhere that brings me joy every single day" Nicola, S8

Complete Transformation - Millhouses

Our largest garden to date, with the design linking front and rear gardens. The garden was designed around a much loved tree and with the clients lifestyle in mind.

The new boundaries are a combination of brick, contemporary fencing and trellis allowing climbers to scramble through. We renewed and enlarged the existing decking using Siberian Larch with integral lighting which was also incorporated into the path the the garden. A seating area and a vegetable patch were added and an orchard area with wildflower planting has made this garden a haven for bees, butterflies and birds whilst also being a lovely space to entertain in.

"Chris transformed an overgrown wasteland into a beautiful and practical multi-use space. His clear vision shaped the project. We're hugely pleased with the outcome and have become repeat customers" Richard, S7

Wildlife Pond and planting - Hangingwater

This was phase 2 of a full garden project which turned out to be ours, and the clients, favourite part of the garden.

The pond was sited next to the previously built seating area allowing the client to watch the wildlife around the pond up close. The stone used around the pond was re-purposed from earlier excavations in the garden.

Rainwater from the gutters was directed into the pond and from there into the boggier areas around the pond. The pond was designed to allow marginal planting directly into the pond and also to provide another habitat for invertebrates.

An all year round planting scheme was designed to maximise the availability of nectar throughout the seasons.

"despite the difficult access Chris and his team came up with a design that not only overcame these challenges but ended up exceeding what I thought was possible.. I love the seating area which was sympathetically designed to reflect the mid century house design and the pond was attracting wildlife the day it was filled.. I love my little oasis!" Nicola, S11
