Creating a thriving wildlife haven
At a mid-century home in Hangingwater, our green-fingered clients wanted a garden full of life where they could also grow produce, propagate and plant-up over time. The wildlife pond was to be a modest but key feature, adding to the natural, simple of the space and support biodiversity. The sloping lawn was a challenge and we even had to build scaffolding the get the digger in to the space to create workable levels! But it worked out beautifully, creating a genuine sanctuary for human and other users.
The modest pond is designed for easy upkeep. Sloping sides and marginal planting make it safe and attractive to wildlife.
Our green-fingered clients wanted space to relax and to continue growing their garden.
In levelling the garden out, we created a raised area near the house, with sleeper-built retainer walls at working height to create more work space.
The pergola is planted with scented climbers for summer shade.
New steps give easier access to the upper garden.
